Before you ask
Questions we hear often
Here are the questions foreigners and their families ask us most. Every case has its own details, and we explain yours in the consultation.
Marriage and divorce
What do we need to register a marriage with a foreigner in Egypt?
Essentially: both partners attend, or someone they appoint by power of attorney (توكيل); the foreign partner's stay in Egypt is legal; their embassy issues a certificate of no impediment; and a medical examination is done. The marriage is then registered at the Foreign Marriages Office of the Ministry of Justice (وزارة العدل). The detailed documents vary by nationality.
Will our marriage be recognised in the foreign partner's country?
That depends on the law of that country. The contract usually needs extra legalisations (تصديق), and we tell you exactly what your country requires.
Can we divorce if one of us is outside Egypt?
In some cases, yes, through a power of attorney. It depends on the type of procedure and the competent authority.
Residence
Does marriage give the foreign spouse the right to residence?
Marriage can be the basis for a residence permit application (إقامة), with specific conditions and documents. We review your situation and suggest the right type of residence.
Can my family live here with me?
Yes. The families of foreign investors and residents can get annual residence permits, and we handle their files.
Working with the firm
I'm outside Egypt. Can I still get started?
Yes, in most cases. Some steps can be done through a power of attorney, and some need you in person. From the start, we tell you what can be done remotely.
Do you work with all nationalities?
Yes. We always start by finding out what your nationality specifically requires, because the documents differ from one country to another.
How long does a file take?
There's no single timeframe that fits everyone. It depends on the service, the nationality and the authority involved. Once we've reviewed your documents, we give you a realistic estimate — and we don't promise what isn't in our hands.
How are fees calculated?
We set them after the consultation, once we know the details of your file. You know the full amount before we start.
Who sees my documents?
Only the firm. We use your information only for your file, and keep it within professional and legal rules.
Do you have clients in the Gulf?
Yes. We have clients in 3 Gulf countries, and we handle their files from Egypt and remotely.
Where are your branches?
We have two branches: in Cairo (Nasr City) and in Alexandria (Sidi Bishr). Visits are by appointment.
