Overview

A document issued in one country isn't automatically accepted in another. We have your documents translated and legalised (تصديق) by the competent authorities in Egypt, so they're accepted where you need them. And if you can't be here in person, we help you set up a valid power of attorney (توكيل) so your file can move forward.

This service is for you if you are:

  • Need foreign documents legalised for use in Egypt — for a marriage or residence, for example.
  • Need Egyptian documents legalised for use abroad.
  • Need a certificate of no impediment from your embassy.
  • Live outside Egypt and have a matter here that needs a power of attorney.

Documents we handle

  • Marriage contracts and divorce certificates.
  • Birth certificates.
  • Certificates of no impediment.
  • Academic certificates.
  • Powers of attorney issued abroad.

What we usually need from you

  • The original document, or an official copy of it.
  • A certified translation, if it isn't in Arabic.
  • The passport of the document holder.
  • For a power of attorney: the agent's details and ID, and a clear statement of its purpose.

This list is a guide only. The documents you need depend on your nationality, your religion and the country that issued your documents, and they can change by decision of the competent authority. We give you your final list once we have reviewed your documents.

How your file moves forward

  1. We identify the document, and the authority that will use it.
  2. We arrange a certified translation when needed.
  3. We have it legalised by the competent authorities, such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the relevant embassy.
  4. For a power of attorney: we draft the right wording, then it is notarised in Egypt (at the الشهر العقاري) or in your country of residence.
  5. You receive your document, ready to use.

Questions about this service

What's the difference between translation and legalisation?

Translation puts what the document says into another language. Legalisation is an official authority confirming that the document, or the signature on it, is genuine. Many authorities ask for both.

Can I send my documents without coming in person?

In many cases, yes. We tell you what can simply be sent, and what needs you in person or a power of attorney.

I'm outside Egypt. How do I make a power of attorney?

Usually you sign it in your country of residence, before the competent authority, and then it is legalised so it's accepted in Egypt. We explain the steps for your country.

power of attorney

No. Some matters need specific wording or powers. That's why we review the text before it is notarised.
